Fate's Plan
written by melpomene_blessed_8908:37 PM 3/4/05A fork in the road, and I followed the wind
Because I knew Fate held me in her hands.
Over the mountain, around the bend
I pressed on, carried out all Fate's demands.
Not a single stream or lake I found
On the path down which she led me.
Not a drop of rain on that dry ground,
Not a single fruit tree fed me.
And laid I down beneath a tree
And closed my heavy eyes.
What a cool and shady place to be
The place my body dies.
And as I took that last soft breath
That eased my corpses pain
And sent me plunging into death
I felt a drop of rain.
And as my eyes rolled in my head
To the sound of the rainstorm's thunder
I saw above an apple, red,
On the tree that I lay under.
So this was your intention all along
Fate, whom I held most high.
To lead me on, and lead me wrong,
And taunt me as I die. |
