You Can't Hurt Her Anymore

Someone you thought you'd never lose
Don't bother looking into her big brown eyes
For now they can see through the biggest lies
Your biggest lies, your made-up disguise
Meant to fool her and play with her head
Meant to just get her in bed
To control her and scold her
You acted like you owned her
And she loved you, too
There was nothing she could do
Loving eyes can never see
But soon that wouldn't be
She may have been blind but she wasn't deaf
Even when that was the only thing she had left
She heard you were cheating
You had some secret rendevous meeting
You thought you'd get away with it
With her, you could easily match wits
But she's smarter than you think
As she took another drink
And went to your door
At a quarter past four
You were caught with your hands red
You had another woman in bed
She's drunk; she's not thinking straight
She thought as she determined his fate
She had the gun but he called her bluff
Not really believing when she said she'd had enough
She's filled with so much vigor
She pulls the trigger
And you fall to the floor
You can't hurt her anymore. |
