» Poem: My Best Friend
My Best Friend

She was always there for me,
she was like my sister.
She would love me for me,
and act like my mother.

She was perfect,
so I looked up to her.
She was pretty on the outside and inside,
and thus I envied her.

She knew things about me,
not even my real mother knew.
She would tell me bedtime stories,
and tuck me into bed before my curfew.

She seemed like a best friend,
yet like a nanny.
Always nagging me around,
because I know she loves me.

But the love I thought would never end,
came to an end one day.
When I returned from school,
to my dread, I found her dead.

I cried so hard,
and fought so badly.
Images and memories of her,
Won't fade away in my head.

I will never forget her,
and the words she said to me.
I promise her I would be okay
But I broke that promise already.

Up to this day,
she remains in my heart.
She was the only one that cared and understood,
sometimes I wish she were still here.
