What will remain

You let the bruises show.
You stab me.
You sit there and let the blood flow.
When I scream you keep going.
When I try and fight back you hit harder.
I try and run but your hold is strong.
I scream out in pain.
You just sit there and watch me cough up the blood.
The bruises and gashes will fade.
But my scared soul will remain. |
