letter to a friend

i can no longer pretend
i wish it would have been better
and i apologize for the way i acted
but i only feel second best
a consolation prize for a heart
torn apart
i loved being with you
but feelings change
and im sorry to say
i can no longer stay
we used to talk for hours
but now when isee you
my heart fills with indignity
i cannot lie anymore
and im sorry to say
i must now part my way
i know you will be fine
and i know you wont take long
wishing things would be different
i wanted it so much
but now i must go
and at least now you know
