Dear Dad

You're the only father I've ever known
Over the years, my love for you has grown
You know I never really wanted you to go away
I wish you wouldn't move, I wish you wanted to stay
I wish I had told you I loved you more often that I did
I wish that from you I never would've hid
I wish that I could just stop crying; I wish I could try
I wish that right now I didn't feel like I wanted to die
I wish you would tell me that it was just pretend
Because now I don't think my broken heart will ever mend
I'm sorry I never said the things I wanted to
I'm sorry for all the bad things we went through
Sorry for when I was a brat and when I got mad at you
Sorry for the mean things I said, you know I don't think they're true
I'm so sorry for all the things I did, I didn't really mean it
I'm sorry that most of the time, I treated you like shit
There's so many things I wanted to say
And I had my chance to say them today
But I was at a loss for words, I don't know
All I could do was cry and try to show
You with my emotions how much I cared
I only wish you were still there
I miss you already; I don't know what to do
At least I got the chance to say "Daddy, I love you"
To have a dad like you, I know I've been blessed
And I promise to always be you're little princess |
