The hands of time turned back.
Suddenly you’re right in front of me.
Your voice ringing in my ears.
Your image burned into my head.
My body stings from your touch.
Your fragrance surrounds me,
Clogging my nostrils Like cigarette smoke
Clinging to everything it can find,
The sweet musky fragrance of a man.
Words pour out of your mouth. A foreign language,
That I no longer care to understand.
All I hear is the sound of your voice,
Singing some deep, enchanting melody.
I try to break the spell. To say something.
My mouth doesn’t work. I try to move,
To silence you with a kiss. My body’s broken.
Tears stream down my face in frustration.
You glance at me, Still singing your song,
But you don’t even notice. Without warning,
My hand rubs my eye In exhaustion.
It’s completely dry. Confusion wells up inside.
I swear I was just crying. Slowly realization comes.
A movie is being played before my eyes.
One I’ve seen before. I know the ending.
I want to change it. To turn the movie off
And forget. A sudden revelation occurs.
This is a memory,
My memory. It can’t hurt me now.
