illusion dies
written by devilchild0110:20 PM 3/20/05Black angel wings on a tarmac of stone Gliding over silent hearts
Shattered by the hand that held them momentarily
Whispers of the little ones hidden behind the veil in our eyes
When the shirt fell away and the chest was laid bare
The silent heart thumping though nothing happened
We were picked up by those black angel wings and thrown over the tarmac of stone Gliding like ice over ice But cutting ourselves like skin stuck on concrete ten feet back And now I can reach in and hold your heart in my hand
Like the most precious thing in the world But it's still coal amongst diamonds
And it's hard to tell you now that I loved you then And it's impossible for me to learn how to fly now Falling endlessly into the oblivion that is created when your heart is in my hand Beating for no reason other than to beat And then to hit
And it all goes up in flames Inhaling our misery and levitating on above onto the plane of nothingness And it's hard to stay floating when we are rooted to the ground But when you lay out before me, coal amongst the diamonds
It's easy to remember the feel of flesh on flesh Lips on fingertips and nails on the chalkboard of our minds But either way you remember it now
It's always that flight on the black angels wings away Just beyond the tarmac of stone A siren amongst the silent hearts And the little ones hidden in our eyes are screaming now And I can see you again for the first time
