» Poem: A river runs through it
A river runs through it
written by whatShouldUsBe

In a serene meadow I know,
flora and fauna freely grow.
Playful critters have tittering fits,
and a babbling river runs through it.

The deer would pause to take a drink,
and from schools of fish receive a wink.
Upon mighty oaks, flocks of birds would sit,
and lazily, a river runs through it.

Frost chased the animals to their beds,
and collected on wildflowers colorful heads.
A fox led her shivering kit,
over a frozen river that runs through it.

The coming of spring,
brought a smile to my face.
Finally, I could return,
to that safe and peaceful place.

Factories replaced the oaks
smog blocked out the sun.
The animals left, they had no choice,
humans made them run.

Ugly machines took the place,
the only place wildlife was safe.
And still, able to take man's crude hit,
a polluted, disgusting, sad river runs through it.
