» Poem: Fade
Fade
written by insomnia_art
10:34 AM 3/22/05
A dash of mascara, lick of lipstick
Black dress, cute eye bat.
The perfect reflection against the glass.
Her nails trimmed, painted white
Eyes clouded like a shadowed day
Hips curved for a perfect sway
As she dances the night away.

The smoke thickens, obstructs the view
“So long,” she says, “sky dark blue”.
The music slows, a darkened rose
Blowing grace towards the moon.
She wonders if he arrives soon
For one door to forever close.

Seasons pass, a collective mass
Against the front lawn of time.
She waits there, lonely,
Gaze cast against the sky.
The rain falls, extinguishes a flame
And such grows her shame.

Is she air, him so unaware?
She sighs and starts her prayer
Every week, for her to repeat,
A love for her to now declare.
(This her desperate, sullen plea.)

Her skin withers, soul bitter
(A new reflection for her to see.)
Body losing its luring glitter.
Does she dare, does she care
To look once more the other way?
Her hair grows gray, no need to stay
Nor death to outrun or betray.

The rain falls, extinguishes a flame
And such grows her shame;
Her love never came.
