» Poem: Sewn Shut
Sewn Shut

Pity,
What a strange specimen
I wonder what
Makes her tick
Let’s dissect
Her…
Begin the operation
Scalpel, stat!
Let’s make the incision
Right above her eyes
She is already blind…
She cannot see
Your reasons
For being the way you are
Sew her lips together
For she has already been
Silenced…
She is much to paranoid
To speak her mind
So she hides in
Misty shadows
Where she can scream into the night
Without anyone knowing
It was her…
Memories cascading through
Her mind
Crashing into each other
Not sure what to do with them
For fear of what
Could happen
Living in this empty shell
Far too long
She slinks into the silence of the night
Trying to mask her thoughts
With plastic flowers
Just lying to herself
Not realizing that she is hurting
Just with this facade of happiness
She lives her mistaken identity
For all it’s worth
She’s just coming to terms
With something that will blow her life
Apart
A fact that could tear her away from her
Family
That would seclude her from ever
Being normal again
For she will have to deal with
The pain
Anger
And torment of being a
Lesbian
In a society of
Rednecked-monkeys
And a land where
The village idiot is supreme ruler
She cannot rest
For the sole reason
That she loves a
Woman…
