we cant be

But I can’t have you
You say you want me as well
But it can’t be
My heart aches because we cannot be
It pains me to say no to you
When I so just want to give in to you
Your words ring in my ears
I see your face in my dreams
But it can’t be
WE can’t be
It would be too hard
It’s forbidden
You are the one I want
But you are the one I can’t have
Please don’t be angry with me
I never meant to hurt you
I just can’t see this ever working out
I can see us together forever
But I can’t see us being more than friends for now
You’d want to stray
You’ll find one prettier
More appealing, more suiting to your desires
Then I’ll be left out in the cold
I’m searching for a long-term commitment
You wouldn’t want to fit into that
We would be doomed from the start
You say you want me
I long for that to be truth
I long for you too
I long for your arms around me
But that can’t be
We are so far apart
We may never get to see each other face to face
I want you so bad
It tears me up that I can’t be with you
But we can’t be
We are a pair that never can be |
