Vietnam
written by Mr.Brownstone08:58 AM 3/26/05In 1965 Vietnam seemed like just another foriegn war... but it wasn't. It was diffirent in many ways, and so were those who did the fighting. In world war II the average age of a combat soldier was 26. In Vietnam is was 19. In Vietnam, a combat soldier typically served a 12 month year of deuty. But was exposed to hostyle fire almost every day. According to a veterans addministration studdy, half of the Vietnam vetterans suffer from what psyciatrists call, post-dramatic stress dissorder. Many vets. complain of alienation, rage, or guilt. Some succumb to suicidal thoughts. Eight to ten years after comming home, almost eight-hundred-thousand men, are still fighting the Vietnam war. None of them recieved a hero's welcome... |
