» Poem: Eat GREAT even LATE
Eat GREAT even LATE
written by MintyFreshGirl

The wierdest news tonight:

If I could rename the article in the paper
I would call it "My Dinner Flipped me Off!"
When a girl in San Jose finds a finger
bobbing in her cup of chili from Wendy's
I wonder if the nail was manicured
Eat great even late! yea that's for sure!..

And in the paper this summer:
some kids from Fresno call the police
"we found Lacy's body and heard screams!"
they all rush to the spot, FBI, rescue teams
And fish out "Ms. Peterson" from the lake
only to find it was really only a giant black beaver
and the screams were from a neighbor's pool party.
I'm sure Scott was there
(the wife "couldn't make it")

And then, a woman of 78
found face down in her home
her SEVENTEEN cats sniffing
at her week-old corpse
kitty bite marks on her arms and legs
who could blame them?
they hadn't ben fed in 7 days!
Besides, old ladies make the best meow mix

Author's footnotes and comments on this Poem:
I collect odd/unusual newspaper articles (the obituaries are a good place to find them). The examples in the poem are actually inspired by ACTUAL articles I've collected in the past few months.
