» Poem: I love you this much, he said
I love you this much, he said
written by whatShouldUsBe

"I love you this much."
Were the words that He said,
Blood dripping
From His thorn-pierced head.
His arms spread open wide-
He tried to hide the tears in His eyes,
As they nailed Him to the cross.
Him being the only one who cared enough to save the lost.

My tears began to fall,
As I watched Him...
As I watched Him being mauled.
This man so Perfect and Undeserving.

"NO!" I screamed,
"That should be me!"
They pulled me away,
Though I fought their grasp and fell at His feet crying,
"I deserve that pain! It should be me!"
He looked at me and whispered,
"Let it be, my child. Let it be."
Still I cried.
No one should be tortured like this.
No one deserves to be loved this much.

Then I found that everlasting peace.
The kind that only comes with a love so sweet.
His arms stayed open wide.
Nothing but love could be seen in His eyes.
For they said the words He did not speak -
"I love you this much."
