» Poem: The Tavern
The Tavern
written by Misstress_Avelina

In her eyes the diamond sparked
reflecting the soft green.
She drew a deep longing breath,
She felt her cheeks grow warm and she
solemly looked away.

But something made her look back
into his pale blue eyes.
The tune that flooded the taverns air,
Strangely it soothed her.

She exhaled and watched him
walk away.
Dragging his torn black cloak
behind him.
Back thru the darkness,
Back thru the entrance hence
he came.

She picked up the diamond,
off the old counter top.
Instantly it formed into,
a necklace,
wrapping itself around her fraile neck.

She looked again
back at him,
But he had dissapered.
She stood up and lingured in the
doorway,
Watching out the window,
The raindrops telling her
a story.

Absentmindedly she places her hand,
around the base of her neck,
Touching the large cold stone,
A tear slipping down her,
pale luminous face.

She gathered her things,
and left the rose that once,
was in her black hair,
on the old counter top.

Wrapping her scarf around her neck,
and taking one last glance,
at the dark and dusty tavern,
She left.
Down the long road,
slowly fading,
into the undiscovered treeline.
