Out The Window
written by Tessin07:43 PM 4/2/05The clouds drift lazily by like bloated, airborne children vasking in the sunlight.
From ehere I sit i can imagine that freedom, that warmth. But i cannot feel it.
The redbuds and Dogwood branches sway with the breeze. I can imagine the smell of the flowered limbs, the sound of the leaves rustling in the wind as they cling to their wooden life-lines.
But I cannot hear them, I am closed off from that fragrance by these stone and steel walls. You might venture to say I'm a prisoner here in this institution. Though I have committed no crime and this is no prison, or maybe it is. I am not permitted to leave. Any tries at freedom are punished. My only offence, it would seem, is being a student in a bureaucratic school system. |
