Knife With A Jagged Edge
written by YouSmileAs_I_Die02:14 AM 4/9/05I've tried so hard to weave
These gossamer threads of my life
Into an elegant and colorful cloth
It was coming along fine until the day you showed up
Cruely you smiled and brandished a knife with a jagged edge
And with that same smile, you ripped apart the very fabric of my life
If I thought it was tattered and worn at first, that is no comparison to what it looks like now
Large holes open like hungry wolves' mouths waiting to devour me
Strings flutter freely in the breeze, mocking me with their care-free manner
I clutched that mangled cloth to my chest like a child holding his blanket,
Scared of the mostrosities that would come to me if I ever
Dared to relinquish it
And thus, I've been going about, trying to patch it up as best as I could
With the scraps I've got left from the others before you
But things still don't look right
The patches don't cover the holes entirely
The once bright colors have faded into weary and tired tones
But still I cling to it for dear life
For what reasons, I do not know
For it will never look like it did before you came along |
