Praying For The Courage To Press Down
written by YouSmileAs_I_Die

They say skinned knees are easier to fix than broken hearts, and I must agree. Band-aids across knees bring a smile and a story, band-aids across hearts bring tears and pain. But it's all in good fun, for you at least, the one who gets away with no scars, no regrets, no pain whatsoever. And I must say, that's not fair at all, because I sit here with a blade at my wrist and your picture in front of me, praying that I had the courage to press down. And you'll never know of the struggles I have with myself, struggles that are triggered by seeing you or hearing your voice. You'll never see the clever lines I write down on napkins only to be thrown into an ungreatful garbage can because you wouldn't understand all of the feelings I have for you, and at times, I don't understand them either.

Author's footnotes and comments on this Poem:
the clever lines' line is based loosely on a song by Taking Back Sunday "Cute Without An 'E'" i think it is...i don't remember, but that's where the 'insperation' for that came from.
