Soul Wedding
written by insomnia_art07:09 AM 4/12/05A long day of passing shifts quickly to shallow night,
Where upon light footsteps tread in unison dreading
Into confusion of the heart, a place to bear spite;
Here, to await the fait of a grievous soul wedding.
The bells, they echo and disturb a silenced valley
Where thoughts arise like a phantom’s frozen hand
To steal life from the damned, suffocate a crowded alley;
And the finger that supports the ring disintegrates to sand.
Opposites gaze together, disgusted and yet attracted
One a malicious misanthrope, the other too shy for words,
This fleeting moment where times are miserably compacted;
A stage and theatre of where the dramatic absurd occurs.
There, the bible lay torn, taking its breath of last
Bleeding a litany of mistakes best left unstirred,
Shrieking the memories of a buried and painful past;
And in those vacant rooms one voice overheard.
It arrived after the “I do, I do” to a crowd of wide eyes
Perching high upon a tree, a place for all attending to see
Where, for the betterment of eternity, it prattled through lies;
“C’est la vie”, the mockingbird cried once more, “C’est la vie”. |
