» Poem: Chewy Gum
Chewy Gum
written by TowelytheThing

I sit at my desk in class.
Staring across the room.
We catch our eyes together.
Then quickly,
We both turn away..
I rummage through my bookbag,
To find that picture of us.
But then I find my Dentyne Fire.
And thought it was better than you.
CHEWY GUM I said to myself.
I stick a piece in my mouth.
And 10 minutes later,
The teacher tells me to spit it out.
You look and laugh.
And mouth the words to me,
Chewy gum, can I have a piece?
I snicker and look,
And you turn your head.
Never mind you say almost silent.
I put the gum back in my bag.
And found the picture of us.
Smiling I put it away.
This picture is only worth two words.
Two not one thousand.
Chewy Gum.
I still hold that picture today.
And on the back.
I have written Chewy Gum.
Me and you.
I can remember.
Chewy Gum.
