Sound Asleep
written by DarkeningBeauty05:18 PM 4/16/05DarkeningBeauty is back! You thought you could escape my poetry? Wrong.
Now I post a song / poem I really am proud of. It is written through they eyes of a dead father, protecting his grown up child.
I’ve been watching you from a distance,
Working my way through your disguise,
Behind your eyes and a smile,
A fatherless child lies awake.
Let me free you from your suffering,
A mother’s touch is not far away,
Live through plastic discoveries,
I’ll take you from your nightmares,
Sound asleep (and safe)
Close your eyes and now surrender,
I’m here protecting you always,
I want to save you (save you)
I want to heal you (heal you)
Be not aware of all my agony,
Your needing is all mine
Let me be the one who comforts you,
A childhood dream can’t be conquered,
Shroud yourself in mystery,
I’ll take you to a paradise,
Sound asleep (and safe)
Though I’ll be gone by the time you realise,
These words I give to you, my love,
Dreaming is not a shameful thing
I’ll always be with you
Though I was never here to touch you
Talk to me and I’ll mend you, my dear,
Feeling despair is not unacceptable
I will always love you
Here you lie (here you lie)
Sound asleep (sound asleep)
Now’s not the time to tell you the truth
Sound asleep (and safe) |
