» Poem: The girl on the corner
The girl on the corner

The girl who sat on the corner,
Was what you would call a loner.
Some noticed her,
They shot looks her way,
As others just walked away.

Some noticed where she went,
But they didnt know what home meant.
They called home a place of peace,
But her home was tearing away her life, piece by piece.

She would go home,
She would walk in,
To screaming and fighting.
She saw something had broke.
They noticed her,
But they never heard a word,
Because she never spoke.

She went upstairs,
She sat on her bed.
While dread filled her head.

She knew what was coming,
She knew that once the screaming stopped,
She knew that was nothing she could do,
But sit and wait,
For the morning to start anew.

She heard the stairs creek,
As her heart beat faster and faster at each beat.
Her door slowly came ajar,
Her pain was not far.

She was pushed down,
She was violated,
But all she could do was frown.

The tears were coming,
The pain was numbing,
But she knew what would happend once this ended.
She knew that she could never be mended.

It finally stopped,
But the pain never went with him,
The pain stayed,
As she reached for the blade,
As she sat there betrayed.

Her blood flowed from her veins,
Her broken heart was all that remaind.
The pain went away for one night,
But once again she sat on the corner with no light.

She hoped one day,
To say her final goodnight.
But she never could,
Because no one understood.
