» Poem: That night
That night

That night still runs in the back of my mind.
That night is the worst of my thoughts.
Just walking to the store like any other night.
Until the van came as fast as a jet.
All I heard was THUMP!
I did not think anything of it.
Then I saw you rolling on the street.
That night ambulance and police lights
shined as bright as stars in a country sky.
Even the ambulance had eyes of sadness.
Even the police said this is the worst thing to ever happen.
Especially to a young man of the age 19.
Even the moon cried that night.
The stars were duds that night.
The doctor's voice sounding of sadness said
"I'm so sorry"
When I went in the room to say my last goodbye.
The IV went Drip...Drip.
It was the worst anyone could look.
The machine he was hooked up to roared.
I went home that night.
I cried cause I cared for him.
I just wish that night never happened.
Because of that night.
Things will never be the same.
