Last Night
written by Emochick4101:26 AM 4/20/05Last Night was when I finally figured out,
That I could no longer take it.
Truth and betrayal only leave scars.
Your lies bleed through,
They cut to the bone.
I finally realized, you were way more
Than just skin deep.
Last Night you told me
The truth of the matter.
My shadow still lingers
And darkens the walls.
But my heart was left broken,
By the bed that’s unmade.
Like your dreams were left shattered
When your heart hit the floor.
As I hang up, I always pretend
It wasn’t you on the phone,
Just a memory of what was.
Just like it wasn’t me by your window,
But the wind in disguise.
Yet wishful thinking
Completely took us over.
I want him and you want her.
Both of us failed,
In this twisted game of fate.
My mistakes can be erased,
While yours will last forever.
You wanted my advice then,
I’ll give it to you now.
“You can’t Love what’s lost
And you can’t wait forever”
Last Night you promised
That you had really changed.
But you can’t be right,
Because you can’t change
Your whole life.
The only reason I know this,
Is I tried it myself.
Look where it got me,
Lost,
Determined,
And hidden
From the rest of the world. |
