» Poem: My Wings
My Wings
written by HowlinWolf

Don't want to be here
Can't stand to be in this lair
It isn't any fair
I want to do as I dare
You all stare
Disbelief, distrust, fear
Pride, love, care

I know I'll fly
Don't question me why
Go ahead, sigh
Claim that I lie
Say I'll die
Say that if I leave, you'll cry
Come on, tell me goodbye

I don't need to hear it
I know I don't fit
Go on and admit
You just want me to get
Say that you won't quit
Well, I can't just sit
I've got to try my wit

I'll reign with the kings
You'll miss my voice when it rings
Just like you miss the bird as it sings
No more playing on swings
I'll see many springs
Oh, don't ask on these things
They're just my wings

Author's footnotes and comments on this Poem:
Reading and rereading this poem makes me think of a dragon youth tell his clan that he's tired of their rules and wants to be off on his own. Only, he's too young to understand the dangers of the world, but he won't listen to his elders. What do you think?
