» Poem: Stop
Stop

To Whom It May Concern:

I know you don't know me.
You've never seen my face
and probably never heard my name.
I'm just another body, another statistic.
At least, that's what you think.
I'm just one person.
What can I do?
Plenty, and I'm going to prove it.

The world isn't right.
You must be blind because you walk by.
People kill and people lie.
They steal and destroy.
I know firsthand.
I've seen what's wrong with today.
Nobody cares.

Well, I'll tell you a thing or two.
I cared and maybe too much.
I tried to stop the pain and suffering.
Now I'm not there anymore.
I tried too much or too little.
I said one thing and then another.
When came the cross fire,
I was caught in the middle.

Now there I lie,
yet here I stand.
One is much alive,
and the other gone.
You'll never see me standing up to them.
You won't see me try.

I'm another body,
just another statistic.
The numbers on one side grow
while the other goes.
Stop the lies and save a life.
You didn't mine.
