» Poem: In The Eyes of a Boy
In The Eyes of a Boy
written by HowlinWolf

I knew my ABC's.
I could read.
Until I was five years old,
my life was gold.

The tree's limb fell,
and nothing was well.
Shattered me,
the blood forsaken tree.

We attracted a crowd.
The horrified screams were loud.
As I lay dying,
my mother sat crying.

Author's footnotes and comments on this Poem:
The easiest way to describe this is that it's true. I was at an amusement park last summer, the only time I went at all. That day, fate was cruel. A tree branch fell and killed a little boy; I was there and saw everything.

This is my memoir to a little boy who didn't have long to be in this world.
