No way out (short story)
written by Misery09:59 PM 8/26/04Years ago there were six best friends who almost did everything together . Stacey , Rachael , Lora , Matt , Steffen , and Jacob went to Timbrige High . There was this old house they always went by in the woods . They had this secret spot with a pond they always swan in . See they all started getting yelled at by their parents . And this old house was huge so they decided they'd fix it up , and live there . There were nine rooms ,and two floors , and in the basement there were three other rooms . Not even counting the attic . Rachael was the mechanic of the house so she decided she'd put floor boards down in the attic and stay there . Well it was huge . Stacey was an odd one , she's funny , and has been friends with Rachael since the sixth grade . Lora meet them in the eighth grade in Torerland Middle School . Matt , Steffen , and Jacob have been friends since the sixth grade . The whole group meet in there last year at Torerland .
Jacob didn't like that Rachael always wanted to do things by herself and that she always had to fight about something . Lora was like Rachael but not in so many fights and looks very preppy . The funny thing is she's not preppy at all . Stacey took the first room on the first floor , and her junk in the next room like the rest of the house members did . The third and fourth belonged to Matt . And on the second floor the fifth and sixth room belonged to Lora . The seventh and eighth belonged to Steffen . The ninth room was one of the living rooms not counting the big family room . And finally Jacob took the basement . Jacob and Rachael were so much alike and hardly ever agreed or got along . They got electricity and heat by Rachael . Jacob got running water and they all paid half of what you would call the bill . They agreed to not tell many people where they lived because they may get kick out or pay for this falling apart house .
One week passed and everything was okay . Until Friday the thirteenth . Rachael blasted her music in her cd player while she slept with the door locked just like Jacob did . They didn't know about the horror Stacey was running from . She yelled , " Help someone help ." She banged on Lora 's door . Steffen yelled from his room ,"Will you shut up we don't care how much you need a pad ! " All of a sudden it was silent , Steffen yelled , " Thank you ." They all left at odd hours so they all thought Stacey left , and was coming back sometime . They were wrong . The next night Lora saw Matt fighting with something . She thought it was Steffen , and Jacob were just joking around with Matt . So she shut her door and went to sleep .
Days went by and Stacey , and Matt still didn't turn up . So on October thirty first Lora and Rachael called the police . They reported Stacey and Matt missing . That same night Jacob decided to ask Rachael to get a bite to eat . They left and when they came back they opened the door to find Steffen laid still with an axe in the middle of his back . His blood was just flowing out . Jacob took his pulse but he was definently dead . He notice Rachael was staring at something . He looked to where she was staring at . At the top of the stairs there were two shadows , and Lora screamed , "It's gonna kill me . it's gonna kill me , help ." Rachael ran up the stairs but Jacob pulled her back and said , " No let her go . " She punched him in his face . She ran up the stairs but Lora was already gone . Jacob started to come up the stairs when this clown came jumping down with a big butcher knife . " Watch out ! " She screamed , and tackled Jacob to the floor . They got up , and the clown landed . The clown let out a horrifying laugh that sent a chill down their backs . He stepped closer , and closer . Rachael , and Jacob started to run down the stairs when the stairs broke with huge spaces between each step . Snakes covered the railing and stairs . The clown laughed , and laughed coming closer , and closer . Rachael pulled Jacob down the stairs , they finally got to the bottom . The door locked itself and bars covered the windows . They ran to the back door it was locked but it's side was made of glass . They heard the clown getting closer , and closer . Jacob broke the glass and they ran out . The gate fence that was once there grew to a thousand feet that they'd never be able to climb .
A scream came and Rachael new it was Stacey , she screamed , "Please somebody help , help me ." She saw Stacey in chicken cage with this doll coming after her just as the clown . Rachael ran towards what seemed to be a short distance but it grew and grew , and grew . Jacob was running after her . They finally reached the cage . There was a huge lock on the cage . Which Rachael smashed open with a hammer she had found on the floor . The doll disappeared and Stacey , Rachael , and Jacob ran once again away from the house . Jacob tripped on one of the hundreds of coffins that popped up . Skeletons with half eaten flesh came out of the coffins , and they all came after them . Only one didn't open and this caught Rachael's eye . Jacob kept pulling pulling her but she heard Lora . She thought that Lora was in the coffin . She got loose from Jacob 's grip , and ran towards the coffin . Pushing zombies out of her way with Jacob following and Stacey last in line . When they reached the coffin with zombies circled around them . Rachael smashed the lock , opened the coffin . Lora laid still eyes closed . She was still alive , and Jacob picked her up and carried her out . They fought through the zombies with the hammer , and a big piece of the coffin that was broken off .
Stacey tripped on something while they were running in the dark . It was Matt cold with spiders covering him . It was easy to see he was dead . Lora came to and the zombies were still coming more , and more at a time . " Come on ! " Stacey yelled and Jacob picked up Matt , and carried him away . They reached the high way , and Matt's body disappeared . They got picked up by a trucker and they had professionals get out their stuff of the house . They never stepped in that house since that day on October thirty first . After they reached the high way Stacey and Lora were in odd comas for six strait months after .
When Rachael and Jacob were twenty six they went back only because Rachael had to see the house again . For Rachael's twenty six birthday they went to the house . They carved into the walls :
" Rachael Rowelings , Jacob White
Lora Lieons , Steffen Brown
Matt Murey , and Stacey Strait
We lived here together after senior year . Brown and Murey 's bodies were never found . The house is haunted no kidding . It will kill you . We almost died , two of us did . Get out before something bad happens . "
They went out to the car . Rachael noticed the bracelet Jacob gave her was gone . " Hey I dropped my bracelet I'll go get it , can you pull the car up to the door . " Rachael said jumping out of the car . He pulled up to the door but he didn't see what happened . She opened the door and saw her bracelet . She picked it up and saw the clown mask . She picked it up and was hit in the head with a glass bottle . She was on the floor out cold .
Rachael woke up tied to a chair ." Who are you ? " She asked , " Don't you recognize me ? " Someone asked , " No ! " She said , and he just pulled out a butcher knife unmasked . " I 'm the one you beat up for a week cause I hurt Lora's feelings . And started the all the rumors about your group . Come on don't you remember me ? " " Maurice . " She said stunned , " Well this time your gonna pay for what you did to me . Ha ha ha ha ha ." He said as he cut her wrists three times each , and not very deep in the throat . The last thing she saw was Jacob kicking the door in . Maurice threw the knife at him and missed . Jacob pulled out a gun a shot him in his heart . Since when Maurice and Rachael got in a fight in the eighth grade he was poisoned with chemicals . Which in the end made him disappear . They never knew if Maurice was still alive .
Rachael woke up in a hospital room with Jacob holding her hand . After therapy she once again talked normal , and was okay . Just like their friends thought Jacob and Rachael got together but didn't live happily ever after .
Months Later ...
" One couple moved into a house with their four kids and disappeared after moving into this ghost town house at 555 west Moreland Road house number 555666 . " Something was like that was on the news every month after Rachael was attacked . Rachael received a letter reading :
" - Rachael
I will kill you in your life time . But until then everyone I kill will become my undead slaves just like your friends Steffen , and Matt . First I will get rid of Jacob he is the only one who can protect you . But I will give you this holy water is the key .

Jacob , Rachael , Lora , or Stacey never saw or heard from him after the letter . And all the disappearances stopped . Jacob received a letter to but never told a living soul .
One year later they found out that Maurice was put into a mental hospital and died when they had him baptized . Rachael got into the files and Maurice turned to slush and no one ever said anything about what happened to him . Three witnesses saw him die , but were paid off by the government . There names were Lisa Libet , Steffen Brown , and Matt Murey . Rachael and Jacob found out that Steffen and Matt were in on this for two years before it even happened . They never knew what happened to Matt and Steffen even though they tried to track them down but they probably changed there names , and moved far away . But they were never sure .... |
