To My Shrink "you tell me"
written by SilentScreamsofDeath11:47 PM 8/27/04You tell me I should go on
But never answer why;
You tell me I've got it wrong
But never specify;
You tell me I'm irrational
For reasons left unnamed;
You say "it's not intentional"
But you judge me just the same.
You call me a contrarian
When you cannot fit me in;
You tell me who I ought to be
Disregarding who I am;
You say my words are only lies
Meant to get under your skin;
While you sell a world of greed and pride
Where conscience is a sin.
I've got a lot to say right now
But it's nothing you could hear;
You tell me that you're listening
With your fees, and your deaf ears;
But it's not important, anyhow
Time will make the concept clear;
Your conscious threats and thorny crowns
Only underscore my tears.
You tell me I should go on
But not as the man I am;
You tell me I should grow up
Play along, dance on command;
You tell me I'm irrational
I say better dead than damned;
You say "it's not intentional"
Half excuse, half reprimand. |
