Your name is written with time,
Carved in every inch, row by row,
Set in marble, painted in lime,
Awash with memories of persecution and crime.
In your light they crawl on their knees,
While your puppets dance around in glee,
Hour by hour collecting their fee,
Drown them in fear, submit and believe.
The mighty hold your name on their lips,
kissing their gold and if truth be told,
sniggering behind your back;
for they have it so good
and we so bad.
The dreams of children, in soft white sheets,
You molest and corrupt, you refuse to give up,
The power we gave you, on a day like no other,
A whimper in the dark, a boy beats his mother.
My voice; a muffled cry among the masses,
Guard me like they guard the truth.
Free of rhyme and riddle,
I refuse to adjust.
Maybe tomorrow someone will listen,
Open their eyes and break your tradition;
And when you fall i'll be standing,
Satisfied with my mission.
I hold on to her and look her over,
She's beautiful.
