» Poem: A Child's Life
A Child's Life
written by lost_and_forgotten

Becky was only six
When God had decided her fate
For all the fun and games
Would just have to wait

Becky was very sick
With the deadly yellow fever
Her mom say with her night and day
Her mom just couldn't leave her

Becky herself was very brave
As the disease she tried to fight
The courage of this little girl
Was more than what was right

Becky wasn't frightened at all
Never once was she scared to sleep
Because she knew that if she dies
Her soul the Lord would keep

So the days ticked by
Each slower than the last
But Becky never gave up hope
She said the disease would pass

And then one day
To everyone's surprise
Alas, Becky looked
Into her mother's eyes

"Thank you mom,
For being here with me
And if I die I know someday
In Heaven it's you I'll see."

And with that very
Last thing said
Becky was lying
Limp on the bed

For God and the angels
Chose to take her back
Why, we'll never know
But a love we'll always lack
