It's been almost a year now,
Since your life has been gone,
Stripped from this Earth,
Your heart fails to beat on.
Such an amazing woman you were,
And an amazing person you still are,
You've not been forgotten, nor will be,
Because people don't forget the brightest star.
The cold night in December,
When God took your soul,
He left your love for us,
To keep our lives still whole.
I will never forget my great past,
Of wonderful times spent with you,
I won't forget the memories,
Of the good times we went through.
I still remember your warm hugs,
Your touch, so tender, but so strong,
Sometimes at night, I look to the sky,
And I wonder, what if your life had gone on?
I look at photographs of the family,
And when I see you, I get teary-eyed,
I start thinking about that day,
And the wretched feeling I got inside.
It's been almost a year now,
Since you've gone far away,
You're missed and you're loved,
Two facts that will forever stay.
*This is about my grandmother that passed away December 21 2003. I wrote this because my mother wanted to put a poem in the newspaper honoring my grandmother, and asked me to write it. So...wah-la.* |
