My Stained Glass Window
written by insanebitch200012:35 PM 10/21/04I see her through this window,
Stained crimson, black, and blue.
I see how she sees the world.
I watch her watching you.
I'm glad this window is between us,
I would be lost without it there.
My life is good behind the window,
Hidden from her piercing stare.
If I didn't have my window,
I would have to face her when she cried.
I would have to share her pain,
So instead I hide.
I love the girl beyond the window.
I know she needs me but I stay.
I want to leave, forget the window.
But I can't walk away.
I see her dying alone through the window.
And my eyes fill up with tears.
I wish I could be with her.
But I am so happy here.
On my side of the window,
I don't have to feel.
My soul is void of everything.
Nothing here is real.
It's so safe behind the window.
It's free of worries and of pain.
I try to forget the crying girl,
But my efforts are in vane.
Her eyes meet mine through the window
And for the first time I see,
That through the stained glass
The girl is me.
I stumble to the window
And lean against the glass.
My only thought The tears I'm crying
Are surely not the last.
I put my fist right through the window.
I run over and hold my bleeding soul.
And tell her this is the last time
I will ever let her go. |
