» Poem: Dying Child
Dying Child
written by Morbid Angel
03:22 PM 11/7/04
You held me by the river,
The water stopped, life stood still,
It was just us and the nature,
And baby it was real.
Silence speaks when you are all alone,
It tells you how to feel.

I looked in the river, saw a face in the water,
It looked beaten, no strength left to fight,
Had not the face of a warrior,
Just looking for the light.

She looked me in the eyes,
And it reminded me,
To have the will to fight,
I looked in the river,
Took a good look at myself that night.

I'm scared I'll never find this light,
I'm scared I'll have to walk alone,
I can't reach the other side,
Close my eyes, dream of home.

In the mirror I see this face,
It will follow me for always,
It's part of me,
It's me inside,
The inner dying child,
I'll make you live always
