the shadow of darkness

shadow of darkness
lingers at my door
i don't just
cower in fear,
i stand to greet it
with open arms.
as we walk,
hand in hand,
out the doorway
of this hateful place,
i never look back,
not once.
for i want
to forget
all about
my life
and move on
so i will
never again
have to accompany
the shadow of darkness
out that doorway |
