» Poem: Winter Past
Winter Past
written by Orelinde
09:35 PM 1/25/05
Flashback to lollipops
and sugary blue lips.
Winter brought deer
and she ate all your
oh so beautiful flora.

So daddy went to the shed
and got out the sling-shot.
White marbles pelted pelts,
and shivers were sent throughout
Deer, and the frozen fingers;
attached to daddy's hands.

Crystal flakes caught in hair
and on eyelashes,
and was wiped from
Rudolph’s nose.

Boots stomped to the door
and to the kitchen stove.
Hot coco was a hearty drink,
and the coldness was replaced
by laughter, towards the deer.

Author's footnotes and comments on this Poem:
No clue what the first line referenced to or was a metaphore for anymore. Umm the rest is about when I was 6 or 7 and we lived in Colorado (instead of boring Southern California desert) and the deer used to come down into the yard in early winter to eat my moms flower beds before they died.
