» Poem: Could Have Meant The World To You
Could Have Meant The World To You
written by Morbid Angel

The easiest part is thinking,
Of what to dream of next.
Lieing awake with no one by my side,
A shiver running through my legs.

Realising my bed is empty,
Cuts off my chain of thought,
Theres nobody here,
But I've gotta stay tough.

It's so hard to be a dreamer,
When you're scared of what you'll see.
Wasting away your daytime,
With an imaginary thought of me.

What if I reach the ground,
When I'm falling down so fast.
And then my body is never found,
My dreams are over at last.

I used to think myself to sleep,
Usually with a smile on my face,
These secrets I cannot keep,
I want to know what changed.

What happened to my home,
Where I could escape my life,
I belonged inside my head,
Not walking the edge of a knife.

And I'm so scared of falling off,
And bleeding away what could have been,
I could have meant to world to you,
If not for the scars I found in my dreams.
