As I Take My Life

There would be another way
Another thing to do
Someone I could be
Something left to say
But all I am is me
And all I have is my pain
There’s nothing left to do
Nothing more to gain
Nothing left to say
I know you don’t approve
Of what I want to do
But maybe you’ll understand
… Someday … Somewhere
With a sky above so blue
I can’t die
… My soul is already dead
On the outside I look normal
Pretending to be happy
A laugh, a smile
But living only makes me sad
I thank those who helped me
And condemn those I hate
I will see them again
At the end of this world
And the beginning of the next
At the final gate
As I take the knife
I push it against my wrist
It’s so cold …Yet so warm
Like a winters breeze
In the middle of summer
… While I take my own life
My mind wonders away
And time comes to a halt
No more sound
No more pain
And all the time I keep wondering
When they find me
What will they think
… What will they say |
