» Poem: broken promises
broken promises
written by trulybroken57

take your regrets,
every last one,
take them
and dip them in blood,
writing broken promises on the walls.
whatever you believe is fake.
all of it,
nothing in this dysfunctional world of ours
is real,
it's all a broken promise.
every lie you ever told,
everything you never did,
take them all
and dip them in blood,
smearing it across the windows,
sharp-edged and broken,
like the promises
that never were kept,
they were given away,
lost hopes and lost dreams,
left to find their way home,
down a path of broken promises.
