Hush Little Baby

Don't say a word,
You told me you loved me,
I'll pretend I never heard.
Drift silently into dreams,
And I'll watch you close your eyes,
I wonder what you're thinking,
With your hand so close to mine.
I wonder what you're dreaming,
Just remember the bugs won't bite,
Watching you peacefully sleep,
Where I lay my head at night.
I'll sleep silently in my knowledge,
That you love me without words,
You don't have to say it to mean it,
A nightmare always returns.
Hush little baby,
It's now that perfect time,
Put an ending to your dreams,
Open your pretty little eyes.
My eyelids are always heavy,
When I wake up next to you,
Even when I've slept steady,
I've been watching you too.
You look so beautiful from where I'm standing,
Like an angel drowned in light,
I'm tired of wondering if you need me,
When I watch you through the night.
It hurts to kiss you lightly,
Because I'm so afraid,
I'll never stop holding you tightly,
Until the end of these perfect days. |

I want him to know how much I love him, and how perfect he really is to me. Maybe it's not real but until it's proven otherwise, I'll go on hoping this lasts forever.

| It woulda been nice if you continued to write it to the tune of the song. Beginning the poem as you did and changing it throws off the flow. |
