» Poem: Breaking At Your Feet
Breaking At Your Feet
written by Morbid Angel
10:39 PM 3/2/05
My skin is slowly falling apart and the blood is showing through the cracks,
I've come to realise that from this point theres really no going back.
Chunks of skin are bouncing of the floor and landing beneath you,
At your feet they lie inside my red and bloody room.
I've just noticed that theres is still blood on my hands,
Painkllers to make me numb and ropes to help me stand.
The screeching of your voice is crushing through my bones,
So now I have been left as nothing but skin and veins.
The angel I had imagined never came to carry me,
The doctors couldn't wait to let me go and bury me.
There is no cure for loving you,
So I had not one chance left,
To stop the spreading of this disease,
Before they announced my time of death.
And from my grave I have become what I always dreamed,
Nothing more to you then a memory of me.
And it's only now that I feel alive,
More then any time before,
It doesn't ache to close my eyes.
Cut open my veins to break down my shields,
Leave me weak to never heal,
Let the blood run free as hell,
I don't care,
I'm safe here now.
