Addicted To You
written by Morbid Angel11:13 PM 3/5/05I wish you'd go away,
And then come straight back to me.
I keep trying to let go,
But it's harder then you'd think.
Secrets have been told,
Promises broken down,
This story has grown old,
But I can't help but need you now.
Feed a drip into my arm
And nourish me with you,
Stretched out, helpless, on your bed,
What has my life come to?
Entering my every thought
And haunting every dream,
I wish I could, but pray I do not
From you set me free.
I wish I'd never known you,
I wouldn't have this addiction.
I wish I'd never followed you,
Then I wouldn't miss you.
Deprived of my drug I feel so weak,
A bead of sweat escapes my skin,
Running slowly down my cheek,
It might just be a tear.
Tie me to your wall of lies,
Beat me within an inch of life,
Never tell me what it's for,
Keep me coming back for more.
Prisoner of a steadfast faith,
Despite the damage that you do,
I cannot see why love holds fast,
Or why I cling to you.
I think I'm in love with my memory,
Of something amazing,
Who you used to be.
Letting that go,
Would be letting go of hope,
Forsaking a dream after all this work.
It's something I just can't do,
Tell me lies if it's what makes you. |
