» Poem: Forever Tainted
Forever Tainted

Remember the days that seemed so simple

I do

No demands
No expectations
No competition
No knowledge of a thing called pain
A thing called war
A thing called life
You lived it carefree
But waiting at the back of your virgin mind
Was the monster that would someday destroy the innocence
You once cherished
You grow a little older
And realize some people want to hurt you
And even your own family can seem infathomably cold
New feelings creep up
Uninvited visitors
That stay until you make them leave
Sadly many never lose these residents
And instead feed them with a plethora of emotions
These insatiable feelings only get worse
Leading to your own worst enemy
You
And none could see
Your innocence being devoured
This nebulous concept is forever evanescent
You think you have figured life out
Only to find everything changed around again
You must trust and believe in God
Or you will someday look back and say:
"What did I miss to get here today?"
