Quietly so quietly
I dance my way through the woods.
Step by step.
Twigs snapping underfoot..
Snap, snap, snap.
My own breathing in my ears,
my own heart beat ringing
like a drum...
Thump, thump, thump.
Suddenly, oh so suddenly
quiet takes over the earth,
the sky fills quickly with mirth.
A shiver runs up my spine,
anything but devine.
And the thumping of my heart
becomes speedy...
knowing soon there will be a race,
haunted by a scornful face...
Is that footsteps I hear behind me?
Moving up beside me?
Thump, thump, thump...
My heart bursts into action,
knowing all to soon what is to happen.
Footsteps, yes indeed,
increasing in speed.
Ever faster they come,
my mind begins to tell me...
"Run, run run."
Run is what I do,
as fast as anyone would go,
when they know they are being chased,
haunted by a scornful face.
Growling can be heard from behind me,
grinding teeth sounding from beside me.
All around me it is coming,
Just watching me running...
Running.
Pain in my side,
claws deep inside,
blood begins to ooze,
its from me,
I know its bad news.
My heart slows its beat,
accepting its defeat,
as I slide to the ground,
making one final sound...
A sound that sidnefies the end,
the end of a life,
who was brought down with much strife,
and fought until the last breath was long gone...
Until the last drop of blood fell. |
